The National Education Policy 2020 promises Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit (MEME) for students.
It offers greater attention to life aspirations and greater flexibility to students. NEP says it removes 'rigid boundaries' and creates lifelong learning.
Students can opt for it at graduate, Master's and doctoral levels.
A certificate will be provided after completing one year of study, a diploma after two years and a degree after three year programme.
An academic bank of credit will digitally store the academic credits scored by a student.
However, a Parliamentary Committee panel has reservations about the MEME being suited to India.
NEP 2020- it replaced the NEP 1986. The policy aims to pave the way got transformational reforms in school and higher education systems.
It works on removing hard separations between arts and sciences, between curricular and extra-curricular activities, between vocational and academic streams and on promoting multilingualism and Indian languages, among other things .
Some of the initiatives under it include NIPUN Bharat, NISHTHA etc.
