Opinion: Three years of Abraham Accords

Abraham Accords-2.jpg This week marks three years since the signing of the Abraham Accords between Israel and the UAE and Bahrain, mediated by the US. Later, Morocco joined the process, singing a normalization agreement with Israel.
The fundamental aim of the accords was to promote a stable future for west Asia. Also, the accords opened up exciting opportunities for India and its thriving business community with the nations, especially in terms of trade and regional connectivity.

The accords have increased the scope of trade in the region, as well as had a significant influence on Israel's relations with neighboring countries. For instance, the Prosperity Green & Blue agreement between Israel, the UAE and Jordan, apart from substantial commercial collaborations between companies from the region, partnering with Indian companies.
In a region where 65% of the population is under 30 years of age, providing younger generation with opportunities is a key factor in preventing instability. In this sense, improved diplomatic relations in the region have led to the initiation of youth delegations. The accords encourage collaboration and education through student and professor exchanges.

An important illustration of this cooperation is the establishment of the I2U2 Group– Israel, India, US and the UAE. Its primary focus is on joint investments in critical areas such as water, energy, transportation, space, health and food security.
