The four players, Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa, Arjun and Nihal, kept the Indian flag high at the Chess World Cup in Baku. During the past one month, the Azerbaijan capital witnessed Indian chess soaring higher and higher.
First, D. Gukesh broke into the world's top 10 and replaced five time world champion Vishwanathan Anand as India's no.1 in live rating.
R. Pragg played a series of spectacular moves to reach the finals, against Magnus Carlsen. Praggnanandhaa has become the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to reach a World Cup final.

It was founded in 1951 and is affiliated to Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), the world body for chess.
Its roles include: Organizing national-level tournaments, supporting player development and training, representing India in international chess organizations, identifying and nurturing young talent, facilitating participation in international tournaments, advocating for chess inclusion in school curricula.

The 2023 world cup was the 10th edition of the Chess World Cup.
The FIDE World Cup, established in 2000 by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
