ADB CENTRE TO OPEN CLIMATE CHANGE AND HEALTH CENTRE IN DELHI

Having bagged the first WHO Centre for Global Traditional Medicine, to be set up in Gujarat, India is all set to open a climate change and health centre in New Delhi in partnership with Asian Development Bank.
The WHO outpost I Jamnagar will aim to provide leadership on global health matters pertaining to traditional medicine; ensure the quality, safety, efficacy, accessibility and rational use of traditional medicine; develop norms and guidelines and develop tools for data collection.
In its recently released G20 outcome document, India noted that climate change will continue to drive health emergencies, thereby threatening to overwhelm the health system. Hence, we need to recognize the need to enhance the resilience of healthcare services against climate change generated issues. For this, initiatives such as the WHO-led Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health will be helpful.
