The Government of Victoria, Australia has decided to withdraw from hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Government of Victoria, Australia has decided to withdraw from hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games. After Birmingham replaced Durban for the 2022 edition, this is the second consecutive occasion when a city is unable to host the games due to financial issues.
That only five countries have staged 18 out of 22 editions of the CWG point to this issue.

• Commonwealth Games are an international multisport competition held every four years for athletes belonging to the Commonwealth of Nations. 
• CWG which began in 1930 as the British Empire Games have been conducted every four years with the exception of 1942 and 1946.
• The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) is the international organisation in charge of overseeing and directing the Games.
• Headquartered- at Commonwealth House in London, England
