• South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) is an association of the football playing nations in South Asia which is the regional subsidiary of the larger Asian Football Confederation.
• It was formed with Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The first SAFF Championship was held in 1993 in Lahore.
• Before this year, India last hosted the SAFF Championship in 2011.
