Iran claimed to have created a hypersonic missile that is capable of traveling at 15 times the speed of sound.
• The new missile called 'Fattah' or 'Conqueror' in Farsi, has a range of upto 1,400 km.
• Ballistic missiles fly on a trajectory in which anti-missile systems can anticipate their path and intercept them.
• Fattah has a movable nozzle which could allow it to change trajectories in its path. This can make it more difficult for it to be intercepted.
• Ballistic missile- launched directly into the upper layers of the earth’s atmosphere. They travel outside the atmosphere, where the warhead detaches from the missile and falls towards a predetermined target.
