Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) has become the first major landlord port in India following the awarding of a private tender to expand Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT)

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) or JLN Port, also known as Nhava Sheva Port, is the second largest container port in India after Mundra Port. Located in Navi Mumbai’ s Raigad district, this port on the Arabian Sea is accessed via Thane Creek. It's a nodal city of Navi Mumbai.  Its common name derives from the names of Nhava and Sheva   villages that are situated here. This port is also the terminal of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.

Major exports from Jawaharlal Nehru Port are textiles, sporting goods, carpets, textile machinery, boneless meat, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The main imports are chemicals, machinery, plastics, electrical machinery, vegetable oils and aluminum and other non-ferrous metals.

It is ranked 26th among the top 100 global ports (as per Lloyd’s list top 100 ports 2021 report).
