ASI unearths treasure at U.P. site 

The Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) ongoing excavation of 4,000-year-old burial sites in Uttar Pradesh’s Sanauli has unearthed underground “sacred chambers”, decorated “legged coffins” as well as rice and dal in pots and animal bones buried with the bodies. 

 

Fani is India’s strongest April cyclone in 43 years

Cyclonic storm Fani, which is lying about 600 km east of Vishakapatnam and 800 km south of Puri, is the first severe, cyclonic storm to have formed in April in India’s oceanic neighborhood since 1976, according to records from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). 

 

Indian para-athletes clinched medals

Indian para-athletes secured a silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Road para-cycling championship at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Divij Shah clinched silver while Asian Para Games bronze medalist Gurlal Singh and Hand cyclist Sudhakar Marathe claimed bronze.

 

Petra won Maiden Grand Prix 2019 

World No.3 tennis player Petra Kvitova(Czech Republic) beat Anett Kontaveit(Estonia) to win Stuttgart's Porsche Grand Prix for her second title of the year. Kvitova is a 2-time Wimbledon champion. The championship was held at Stuttgart, Germany. 

 

Awards

Jacques Kallis(ex-Cricketer) was honoured with the Order of Ikhamanaga in the Silver Division. The national honour is bestowed by the President of South Africa on the citizens who have made significant contributions to arts, literature, music, journalism, culture and sports. 

 

Dominic won Barcelona Open Title

Dominic Thiem clinched the Barcelona Open Title Banc Sabadell 2019 title held at Barcelona, Spain which was held from April 22-28, 2019. He became just the fourth player in the past 5 years to lift the title in Barcelona, joining Rafael Nadal, Kei Nishikori , Fernando Verdasco. He’s also the first Austrian winner at this event since Thomas Muster in 1996.

Eliud Kipchoge won London Marathon title 

Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge clinched his fourth London Marathon 2019 crown on 28th April 2019 at London, UK. Kipchoge strode clear of the field to win with the second fastest-ever time 2:02:37. He set the world record time of 2:01.39s at Berlin in 2018.

In the women's section, Brigid Kosgei won the title. 

 

Valtteri Bottas won Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Valtteri Viktor Bottas of Mercedes won Formula 1 State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic(SOCAR) Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2019.
